Not Accepting Sentences, Vadel Badjideh's Attorney Is Ready To Appeal And Challenge LM's DNA Janin Test

JAKARTA - Vadel Badjideh firmly rejected the 9-year prison sentence handed down by the panel of judges and stated that he would immediately file an appeal.

His attorney, Oya Abdul Malik, said the decision ignored the facts of the trial and is now ready to prove that the aborted fetus was not the child of his client through a DNA test.

Oya highlighted the testimony of a forensic expert read by the judge, who stated that the gestational age of Nikita Mirzani's daughter, LM at that time had reached 20 to 28 weeks, while Vadel only returned to Indonesia in March. This raises great suspicions on his part.

"In my opinion, I thought, 'Oh yes, it's okay that he has the initiative to abort because he's already from there'. If it was born, it wasn't Vadel's son. Yes, is it?' said Oya Abdul Malik at the South Jakarta District Court, Wednesday, October 1.

To prove this, he did not hesitate to take extreme steps.

"Yes, we will prove it. Just dismantle the grave, can you do a DNA test. Yes, right. Should my client bear it?" he said.

Furthermore, he also accused the panel of judges and prosecutors of ignoring the key facts revealed at the trial, especially regarding abortion initiatives which he said came from his own.

"I am saddened by the law in Indonesia if it is like this. Why is the facts of this trial ignored? What is wrong with law enforcers in Indonesia? What is wrong with prosecutors? What is wrong with the assembly?" said Oya.

He emphasized that based on information at trial, LM was the party who ordered the abortion drug and drank it without an order from Vadel.

"Vadel just got a call, he was told with words in the assembly, 'Our child is gone, sir. Our child has died, when his son had killed him'," he said.

Oya felt her client had been "hit" by an unfair verdict and was solely based on public pressure.

"Vadel in his pledoi said that he will charge one by one in the hereafter," he concluded.

Previously, Vadel Badjideh was found guilty of committing immoral and abortion and was sentenced to 9 years in prison and also a fine of IDR 1 billion.
