The South Jakarta District Court finally handed down the verdict against the defendant Vadel Al Fajar alias Vadel in the case of child intercourse and abortion.

In a trial held on Wednesday, October 1, the panel of judges found Vadel guilty of the charges filed by the public prosecutor.

"Declaring that the defendant Vadel Al Fajar alias Vadel has been legally proven guilty of committing a crime by intentionally committing fraud and a series of lies in having intercourse with the victim's child as in the first indictment, and the criminal act of abortion against a woman with the consent of the woman as in the second indictment. alternative to the two public prosecutors, "said the panel of judges.

For his actions, Vadel was sentenced to 9 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion.

"Therefore, the defendant is sentenced to 9 years in prison and a fine of 1 billion rupiah, if the defendant is unable to pay it, he will be replaced with imprisonment for 3 months. Establishing a period of detention and detention that has been carried out by the defendant is deducted from the sentence imposed. Keep the defendant in custody," continued the judge.

The panel of judges also explained a number of things that were considered in imposing sentences.

"Considering that before the panel of judges imposes a crime, it is necessary to consider the aggravating things that exist within the defendant. The aggravating thing: the defendant's actions are contrary to the norms of religion and propriety that live and grow in society. The mistakes made by the defendant are not covered by the defendant, but covered with other mistakes. That is, one act is covered with a second act, abortion, that means yes," explained the panel of judges.

In addition, Vadel is considered to have taken advantage of the condition of the victim's family which is not harmonious.

"The defendant took advantage of the unharmonic relationship between the victim's child and the witness mother of the victim's child. There was no peace between the defendant and the victim's child," he continued.

However, the panel of judges also considered the situation that eased the defendant.

"The situation is mitigating: the defendant has never been convicted," concluded the judge.

Vadel was convicted of violating Article 81 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 82 paragraph 1 of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection, Article 77A paragraph 1 of the Child Protection Law, and Article 348 of the Criminal Code.
