JAKARTA - Adhisty Zara admitted that she had difficulty understanding the grief in her character for the film Exchange Fate. Directed by Mouly Surya, Zara plays Zahra, the son of a pilot who died.
"Zahra is something new for Zara in my career. Getting a character that I don't think I know about," said Adhisty Zara at a press conference in South Jakarta on Thursday, September 25.
The former JKT48 member found it difficult at first because he had never felt deep sorrow until that feeling changed when his grandfather, musician Acil Bimbo, died.
"When I was shooting, I didn't know what it was like to lose our loved ones. So I talked a lot with Ms. Mouly for fear of being wrong but after time had passed, Zara lost someone Zara loved and I understood Zahra so much," he explained.
"We can't avoid the disappearance, we need to finish it," he said.
Zara felt that this film made her learn about understanding the sorrow she felt. He hopes that the film Exchange Fate can convey this sorrow.

"On that trip, surely you can get something at a point, something, time to stop being sincere is the only way to go," Zara said.
"The Zahra character process was quite unique, previously male, but this is about a lone survivor of an airplane crash that interacts with his family. Zahra's role is very important, he has a different way than others," said director Mouly Surya.
On the other hand, the author of the book Exchange Fate, Vabyo, explained that this story is a form of how grieving people recover from grief.
"The first time I saw the results, I was amazed because or soul and not just a film. When people mourn each other, heal each other," said Vabyo.
The film Exchange Fate will be released in Indonesian cinemas starting October 2, 2025.
