Wanda Hamidah Reveals The Reason For Going To Gaza: I Can't Just See Palestinians Killed

JAKARTA - Wanda Hamidah expressed her determination to go to Gaza on humanitarian grounds. She explained her feelings seeing the suffering of Palestinians and personal reasons that prompted her to intervene directly.

"Why do I want to go to Gaza? The answer is simple. I can't just see Palestinians being brutally murdered day by Israeli zionists, from babies to parents, even those in the womb," Wanda Hamidah wrote as quoted by VOI from Instagram @wandahamidahbsa, Friday, September 19.

Wanda emphasizes the human side and empathy as the main encouragement. She reminded her role as a mother and family member so that she easily imagines the suffering of others.

"I am the mother of four children, a daughter, a sister, and a good friend. I can't imagine myself without them," Wanda continued.

According to Wanda, Gazans have the same right to live a decent and safe life as any other human. The powerlessness to see mass violence moved him to act.

"Likewise with Gazans. They have the right to live as human beings like us. And if we do nothing about genocide that happens every day in front of our eyes, I feel like we are normalizing brutal killings, messy killings, inconceivable crimes of humanity committed by zionists," said Wanda Hamidah.

This moral call affects his inner condition; he was deeply shaken by the conditions that occurred.

"When we started normalizing the zionists, the monster-monster behavior. I felt like trash. I felt useless. I felt meaningless in life anymore. My life couldn't be normal anymore," he explained.

Wanda also criticized the passive attitude that considered the humanitarian tragedy as daily consumption. Therefore, he chose to leave for Gaza with the determination to take concrete action.

"You can't make genocide a business as usual, like you watch genocide, you eat, watch, you sleep, watch, you social gathering, watch, you play padel. You can't. So here I am happy and healthy to sail to Gaza," said Wanda Hamidah.

For information, Wanda Hamidah is the only representative from Indonesia who can sail with Global Sumud Flotilla to Gaza.

Global Sumud Flotilla itself is a global humanitarian action that seeks to sail to bring aid to Gaza. The voyage, which is also fronted by global activists such as Greta Thurnberg, has ambitions to penetrate the Israeli military blockade (IDF) in order to reach Gaza.

The voyage was attended by humanitarian activists from various fields such as doctors, artists, scholars, lawyers, health workers, and others.
