Playing The Role Of Eternals, Kumail Nanjiani Thinks Will Join MCU

JAKARTA - Kumail Nanjiani considers his future in the Marvel cinematic universe or Marvel Cinematic Universe unclear. Four years after playing the film Eternals, he felt he had never been invited to play in Marvel films.

"When (Eternals) released, the film received bad reviews and didn't work. It really hurts me," said Kumail Nanjiani in the podcast Working It Out.

"That's when I feel 'Oh, I need therapy to finish all of this", he said.

He thought he would star in Marvel films for at least the next 10 years. He even signed for several Marvel programs.

"I think this is my job for 10 years. I signed six films, video games, gaming arenas. They made you sign everything," said Nanjiani.

"You guys will think 'This is the next 10 years of my life' so okay, I will act in Marvel films every year and among them I will do anything else, whatever I want. For me, it makes me sad, realizes my self-confidence related to people's reactions to my work," he said.

The film Eternals, directed by Chloe Zhao, presents various top stars in the acting world such as Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kit Harington, Barry Keoghan, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden and Brian Tyree Henry.

Film ini meraup 402 juta dolar AS untuk penayangan global, namun pencapaiannya terbilang jauh dibandingkan film-film Marvel lainnya.

In addition, some Eternals film players were not announced as players from the fifth phase of the MCU film.

Kumail Nanjiani also said that he did not know about the sequel plan even though the report was circulating.

"To be honest I don't know anything. I want Kingo's character back. I like to play that character. This is one of the characters I love," said Kumail Nanjiani.
