JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta District Prosecutor's Office transferred the status of detainee of Mark Sungkar, a defendant in a corruption case, from a detention center to a city detention center, Wednesday, May 5. With this status, Mark Sungkar does not need to be detained by Kejari but can stay at home.

Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak in his statement mentioned the transfer of Mark Sungkar's detention status based on the decision of the Corruption Court judges at the Central Jakarta District Court Special Class IA Number: 12 / Pid.Sus-TPK / 2021 / PN Jkt.Pst. dated May 4, 2021 received by the public prosecutor at the Central Jakarta District Prosecutor's Office on May 5, 2021.

"The transfer of the status of the defendant Mark Sungkar's detention to city detention was carried out at 17.00 WIB at the Salemba State Detention Center (Rutan), the Attorney General's branch," Leonard was quoted as saying by ANTARA.

Defendant Mark Sungkar, who is also the Chairperson of the Triathlon Sports Branch for the 2015-2019 period, is suspected of being involved in corruption in the 2018 Asian Games National Pelatlon Fund Triathlon activities

Currently the case is being examined at the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court at the Special IA Class Central Jakarta District Court.

The consideration for the transfer of Mark Sungkar's detention status was based on a request from the defendant's legal adviser and guarantees from his two children, namely Zaskia Sungkar and Shiren Sungkar.

"That the defendant Mark Sungkar will not run away, will not destroy evidence, will not repeat his actions, and will always be cooperative and willing to attend every trial at the Central Jakarta District Court, and will be present at the relevant agencies if this is necessary," said Leonard. .
