James Gunn Had Rejected Superman's Film Directorial Offer, Why?

JAKARTA - James Gunn finally marked his directorship in the film Superman after being appointed as DC Studio's new leader. Even so, Gunn revealed that he had refused when the offer to direct the Superman film came to him.

Citing the Comic Book, the Warner Bros. production house. had offered Gunn to direct films from the cinematic DC universe including Man of Steel. Unconfidence, Gunn chose to direct the antagonists through The Suicide Squad.

"Initially I was offered to direct Superman in 2018, I said no," said James Gunn in a question and answer session.

"I feel afraid of my job, I'm not sure how I did it. If you remember, there was a lot going on with Superman at that time," he said.

James Gunn is like differentiating the DC conflict which is reluctant to continue the story of Man of Steel from director Zack Snyder. In Snyder's version, Henry Cavill plays Superman who plays Batman v Superman: Dawn of the Justice League.

"Politically it's a mess, so I said no and I chose The Suicide Squad which is more group-friendly to me. And I'm happy to do it, it's very exciting," he said.

Even though he has refused, James Gunn is increasingly imagining how he directed the Superman film in his version.

"I keep thinking about Superman, can't get him out. What if I did? What will the film look like? How do I make it for the current audience? How can this film talk to other people? And I started thinking maybe I could do it. So when they offered me a birthday three years ago, I said yes, "explained James Gunn.

DC decided to change the DCU concept after appointing James Gunn and Peter Safran as DC leaders in 2022. Warner Bros. then decided to abolish the Batgirl film plan, Black Adam, and failed negotiations.
