JAKARTA - Disability empowerment is growing, one of which is through training in the beauty field. Skills such as makeup artist, hair stylist, and salon management are now valuable provisions for people with disabilities to enter the world of work and open up independent business opportunities.

In Kendari, the Office of Manpower and Transmigration (Disnakertrans) of Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) collaborated with the Meohai Kendari Center in organizing beauty skills training, boga system, and electrical welding techniques for 50 participants with disabilities.

Head of the Southeast Sulawesi Manpower and Transmigration Office, LM Ali Haswandy, in Kendari on Monday, said the training lasted six working days, starting from 23 to 28 April 2025.

"This program is a collaboration with the Meohai Kendari Center, the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, involving experienced instructors from the Kendari Work Training Center (BLK) as well as local beauty salon practitioners," he said, as quoted by ANTARA.

The beauty system training was attended by 30 disabled participants, consisting of 24 deaf women and six men, while the electrical welding technique training was attended by 20 male participants.

This program is part of the "All Easy to Get A Work" (Samudra) initiative in the 2025 Southeast Sulawesi Manpower Exchange series. This activity includes six fields of training, namely beauty, electrical engineering, safety and work health (K3) in general, information technology, independent entrepreneurship training (TKM), and boga management.

Deputy Governor of Southeast Sulawesi, Hugua, when opening the Job Fair 2025 activity at the Southeast Sulawesi Manpower and Transmigration Office, emphasized the importance of supporting people with disabilities in accessing job opportunities.

"Looking for a job is the right of everyone, including our brothers and sisters with disabilities. They have their own advantages, working with a focused heart and mind," he said.

Hugua, who has also served as a member of the DPR RI for the Southeast Sulawesi electoral district for the 2019-2024 period, encourages companies in the area to further open opportunities for people with disabilities, by adjusting their work positions according to their skills.
