The story lifts the emotional struggle of a mother who tries to save her child from supernatural powers. Unlike horror films in general, Jalan Pulang brings together mystical tensions with strong family dramas.

The story centers on Lastini (played by Luna Maya), a mother who mysteriously lost her husband (Edward Manalu). She believes that her daughter, Arum (Saskia Chadwick)'s illness, is not an ordinary medical disorder, but a result of supernatural powers that control her child's body.
Knowing their limited time before Arum's birthday which falls in the leap year, Lastini along with two other children, Lia (Taskya Namya) and Rama (Raffan Al Aryan), traveled to seek help from the shamans.
