JAKARTA - Director Damien Chazelle is back with his latest work entitled The Eddy. Released Wednesday, April 15, the series' first trailer was released via the Netflix YouTube channel.
Chazelle last directed the film First Man in 2018, previously he also worked on Whiplash and La La Land. Through The Eddy, he shows the public that he is still interested in bringing musical elements into his work.
The Eddy tells of a man named Elliott Udo, a jazz musician who was once famous during his time trying to open a jazz club in a suburb in Paris. Coming from New York, it was not easy for him to move to a strange place and try to live by running the club. He also tries to treat his past with his new life in the city.
Udo faced various challenges in running the club. Starting from his business partner who could 'destroy' the club to his son who came to ask Udo to return to New York.
The Eddy is played by André Holland who is known through his acting in the film Moonlight. The series also marks Holland's return to television after last playing in the Castle Rock series in 2018.
In the official trailer, The Eddy is dominated by jazz music. You can see at a glance how difficult Udo is in running his jazz club and his debate with Maja (Joanna Kulig).

The soundtracks on The Eddy were composed by Glen Ballard, a Grammy Award-winning songwriter and co-author of the series. Ballard will also appear on The Eddy as a home band member in the club.
Apart from André Holland, The Eddy was played by Joanna Kulig, Amandla Stenberg, Tahar Rahim, Leila Bekhti, Melissa George, and Alexis Manenti. The series - as well as the entire soundtrack - will be available on Netflix on May 8.
