Linda May and Swankie, the two people behind the book NOMADLAND, were at the Oscars with director Chloe Zhao and cinematographer Joshua James Richards.

The film Nomadland is inspired by Jessica Bruder's book of the same title, released in 2017. Bruder conducts interviews about the journey of nomads including May, Swankie, and others.

Facebook's Winning

Colette, a documentary under the production of Oculus Studios from Facebook and Respawn got its first Oscar award. This is also the first win of the gaming industry.

Colette is a 25-minute film that focuses on Colette Marin-Catherine who travels to Germany for the first time at the age of 74. Colette's film was made for the VR video game Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond.

Glenn Close's Defeat

Actress Glenn Close is becoming the hot topic after losing her eighth time. Yes, she is an Oscar nominated actress who has never won an Oscar.

Glenn Close, who was nominated for the film Hillbilly Elegy, lost to Youn Yuh Jung for Minari in the Best Supporting Actress category.

In memoriam segment

The Oscar program duration is much longer than before, making the public think that the In memoriam segment will be present with a longer duration. Unfortunately, many protested because several public figures were not included in the segment, including Jessica Walter and Naya Rivera.

Winner's Surprise

Throughout the awards, the film The Trial of the Chicago 7 did not get any wins. In fact, this film directed by Aaron Sorkin has received many other awards.

Mank, which won Best Cinematography, came as a surprise amidst public expectations for Nomadland.

The actor Chadwick Boseman, who was projected to win in the Best Actor category, was not. Then there is Anthony Hopkins who won through The Father, 30 years after his victory through Silence of the Lambs.

Hopkins' absence from the awards ceremony led the public to call the event an anticlimax and less fantastic.
