JAKARTA - Sabrang Mowo Damar Panuluh, son of Emha Ainun Najib alias Cak Nun, was more widely known as the vocalist of the band Letto in the early 2000s. The man who is also familiarly called Noe Letto admits that he was a conscious atheist.

Noe Letto's statement was revealed when he told of his journey to seek God and religious issues when talking with Habib Husein Jafar. Noe Letto admits that he thinks critically and always uses logic when studying Islam, which makes it difficult for him to believe in God.

"Incidentally, in that religion, I cannot run away from the basic capital that God has given me. I am inquisitive. I will not eat if I don't really have a clear train of thoughts. One of the most extreme is that I was a consciously atheist," he said when talking with Habib Husein Ja'far Al Hadar on the YouTube channel Cahaya Untuk Indonesia quoted on Thursday, April 22.

"I do not have this religion, I only adopt the concept of religion so that I have not really testified against God. If the creed itself is not an order to believe in God, it is not an order to believe in Kanjeng Nabi. Get to testify. The witness did not listen, did not acquire, "he continued.

In order to return to his religion and convert to Islam, Noe went through a long journey. He had traveled to Canada and lived in one of the mosques for quite a long time.

There, he met a Sheikh and asked many questions about religion. According to Sabrang, the turning point in deciding to convert to Islam was because of the answer given by the Shaykh. The Shaykh's answer was acceptable to Noe Letto's logic, so he decided to take shahada.

"That what made me convert to Islam was the Sheikh's answer. Because his answer does not use black and white logic, dogma. "His answer uses a logical bias," said Noe Letto.
