JAKARTA - The intelligence of a child is influenced by the genetics of his parents, especially from the mother from the beginning of his life. However, in addition to genetics, child intelligence is also influenced by other things such as the attitude of the mother.

The attitude of mothers that helps children grow intelligently is a supportive attitude, as stated in the research published by Intelligence. According to research results on dat 1,075 people in the range from 1996 to 2010, intelligent children turned out to have supportive mothers.

Experts who research say that the supportive attitude or support of mothers has a positive relationship with the intelligence of their children. Especially for children's cognitive abilities in general.

The cognitive ability of children who have supportive mothers is assessed by researchers based on the ability to express and understand vocabulary, body movements, and their mental development. Children with supportive mothers also tend to have higher scores of general intelligence.

"These findings show that mother support affects general intelligence early in life," said one research author, Marijulin Dunkel, quoted by Psychologists.com, on Monday, February 17, 2025.

"I am surprised by the huge effect of mother support for general intelligence (child)," he added.

Through research, it was also found that children who often receive support from mothers are easily attracted and responsive to things that stimulate their thoughts.

However, keep in mind that at an adult age a person's intelligence relies heavily on genetics. However, a supportive attitude is still needed in the life journey of children until they grow up.

"Although mother support may not affect general intelligence at the age of 40, this support is important in their life journey," Dunkel concluded.
