JAKARTA - The film 1 Brother 7 Ponakan directed by Yandy Laurens set a record as the first Indonesian film with one million viewers in 2025. This film is an adaptation of soap operas in the 90s made by Arswendo Atmowiloto which was carried out 7 years ago by Yandy.

"The audience's 1,000,000++ + is no longer worried and sings together in theaters," tweeted the film account on Instagram on Sunday, February 10.

The film gained 1 million views after 17 days of screening in theaters. This film is also a new record after two months in 2025.

1 Brother 7 Ponak tells the story of Moko (Chicco Kurniawan), an architect major student who dreams of realizing his dreams as an architect. The conflict begins when his eldest and sister-in-law, Atmo (Kiki Narendra) and Agnes (Maudy Koesnaedi), die.

Moko's life changes and he has to be the head of the family for his children and nephews, namely Woko (Fatih Unru), Nina (Freya JKT48), and Ano (Nadif HS.).

In addition, Moko also faces challenges in his relationship with Maurin (Amanda Rawles) who is more adequate. This film is also played by Ringgo Agus Rahman, Niken Anjani, Kawai Labiba, and Ence Bagus.

In an interview session, Chicco Kurniawan as the main character said that the film 1 Brother 7 Ponak was very meaningful in his career.

"It feels like this is the first time I have grown up in a project that I realize I as an actor want to tell a story. My life is much bigger than film, and Moko's life is much bigger than his audience," said Chicco Kurniawan.

"This film is trying to understand the dilemma and I understand the term self-placed because the term sandwich is the technology of the economy technically but related to the relationship. Of course there is a plot that is applied to respond to the situation of inner struggle and create thoughts," saidYandy Laurens.
