Minister Fadli Zon Invites The Community To Support The Film 'Women From Rote Island' Compete At The 97th Academy Awards

JAKARTA - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon attended and opened the pre-screening of the film Women from Rote Island by director Jeremias Nyangoen, who will represent Indonesia at the 97th prestigious Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.

Present on this occasion were the Ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, Chairman of Commission VII DPR RI, and Member of the House of Representatives Commission X Melly Goeslow.

In his speech, Minister Fadli Zon said, this is a historic moment for Indonesian cinema. The election of Women from Rote Island as one of the 85 best films in the early stages of Oscar nominations is the recognition of the world for the quality and potential of Indonesian filmmakers.

The Minister of Culture also emphasized that this achievement is not only pride for the film team, but also a symbol of the collective success of national cinema.

Fadli Zon said, this film reflects the enthusiasm, innovation, and dedication of Indonesian filmmakers who have succeeded in presenting stories that not only describe Indonesian culture, but also voice universal values.

"This story is about the struggle of tough women from Rote Island, East Nusa Tenggara, in maintaining their local traditions, identities, and wisdom amid the challenges of modernity," said Fadli Zon in his statement, Sunday, December 8.

The Indonesian government, under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, is committed to continuing to provide support for the best works of the nation's children, in order to make Indonesia proud and introduce the rich culture of the archipelago on the world stage.

Fadli Zon emphasized the Ministry of Culture's commitment to advancing Indonesian culture, one of which is through support for films made by Indonesian filmmakers to be able to make the nation proud through the best works created.

In addition, Fadli Zon also expressed his highest appreciation for all parties involved in making this film. He added that the beauty of the tradition of Rote Island, such as ikat weaving and sasando music, is wrapped with values that reflect the nation's identities such as solidarity, diversity, and deliberation and consensus.
