Maybe We Need Time For Movies (Doc.Kathanika Films)

JAKARTA - Family drama films Maybe We Need Time by director and scriptwriter Teddy Soeriaatmadja, production of Kathanika Films, Adhya Pictures and Karuna Pictures, will premiere at the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) in the Indonesian Screen Awards competition, on December 2-3, 2024 at Empire XXI, Yogyakarta. This competition appreciates the best Indonesian feature film, where the film MKPW is one of the six films that passed the selection.

This 95-minute film tells the story of Ombak (Bima Azriel), Restu's Father (Lukman Sardi), and Ibu Kasih (Sha Ine Febriyanti) who have to continue living after the loss of their beloved family member, Sara (Naura Hakim). Restu tried to be fine in front of his wife and children. Kasih insisted on going Umrah to overcome her sadness and the waves that are often haunted by guilt.

Shadows of trauma, and poor communication with each other, make the situation even more complicated. All of these struggles are like a time bomb waiting to explode. In the middle of all, Ombak meets Alieqa (Tissa Biani), a bipolar girl who brings a glimmer of hope in her life. What will happen to the Waves and their next family?

Lukman Sardi, Chief Executive Officer of Kathanika Films as well as producer and one of the players said, "It's great that this film is also the first project for Kathanika Films to enter a competition on JAFF before showing in theaters."

Director Teddy Soeriaatmadja said, raising a family story has always been a challenging and captivating creative journey, because behind a universal and familiar theme, there is a deep layer of emotional complexity.

He added that family, with all its dynamics, is a reflection of life from relationships between teenagers and parents to struggles between married couples in dealing with the trauma they heal in their own way.

"I believe that the presence of this film is not just entertainment, but also a medium that is able to summarize and represent a rich spectrum of emotions. My hope is that through authentic narratives and humane conflicts, viewers can find resonances, introspection, as well as a flavorful cinematic experience," he concluded.
