JAKARTA - Elang El Gibran is paired with Febby Rastanty in the film Seni Memahami Kekasih. The film directed by Jeihan Angga will tell the story of a couple who are in their teenage years and grow up amidst complicated life conflicts.

Adapted from the best-selling book by Agus Mulyadi, Elang El Gibran is happy because he is trusted to play the character of Agus. On the other hand, he also feels a little burdened to do comedy after his acting in the film Srimulat: Hil yang Mustahal received a positive response.

"I'm really happy to play Agus because I also read his work. I'm also happy to be accompanied by Agus and Kalis and their story is that funny. Very close to us. We must have experienced this in a different medium," said Elang El Gibran at the film's press conference on Wednesday, August 7.

"I'm always afraid to play comedy because I don't really do comedy. There is a little residue from the film Srimulat and from here it's equally complicated," continued Elang.

Febby Rastanty as the co-star is used to playing romantic films, but this time she also shows a comedy side that she has never done before. Luckily, she was helped a lot by Elang and director Jeihan Angga to bring her character to life.

“Everything is funny but I try to be myself as much as possible. The funny part is for Brother Yusril (Fahriza) and Brother Benidictivity. I was aware of Kalis before playing her but I didn’t know her daily life was that funny,” said Febby Rastanty.

“I was helped by Elang because I’m not originally from Java. I really did every dialogue, I voiced it to Elang and I asked and I listened. I kept practicing with him,” she said.

“Full Javanese. Can I do it or not? But this is a challenge in itself and luckily for Javanese, we filmed in Yogyakarta. Jeihan and Elang, my partner are originally from Yogyakarta so I asked them if I felt uncomfortable. We completely overhauled it to be good and more fluent,” said Febby.

The film also stars Yusril Fahriza, Sisca Saras, Benidictivity Siregar, Devina Aureel, Desy Genoneva, and many others.

The film Seni Memahami Kekasih will be showing in cinemas starting September 5, 2024.
