Immaculate Film Review: Brutal And Bleeding Religious Horror

JAKARTA - Not only Indonesian films are enlivened with religious horror genres, Hollywood is starting to enliven their film with this genre. The immaculate directed Michael Mohan is here as a horror film that will be shown in Indonesia.

Not only religious horror, but the film Immaculate also brings a genre of nunsploitation that focuses on the stories of nurses or nuns. The premise also concerns the story of a monk who has a 70' time background who was once popular in Europe.

Immaculate tells the story of Sister Cecilia (Sydneymen) who gets an invitation from Pastor Sal Tedeschi (Alvaro Morte) to serve in Italy. Cecilia accepted the invitation because the monasteries where she served were closed. He was also interested in moving to Italy because there the nuns were assigned to accompany the nuns who were at the end of her life.

There, Cecilia found various strange things, one of which was elderly nuns who had crosses on the soles of their feet. Pastor Sal also claimed the monastery had nails used when Jesus happened. Strange incidents began to approach Cecilia when she was pregnant even though she was a virgin and insisted she never had a relationship with any man.

The incident made Cecilia referred to as the next Maria and called the baby in her womb a blessing.

Feeling strange, the monasteries actually welcomed and even placed Cecilia as a worshiper. Cecilia began to become suspicious and tried to solve the puzzle behind her pregnancy.

This film has successfully built tensions since the beginning of the film. Yes, the first scene of this film is a form of foreshadow against what Cecilia will face.

This premise may be familiar to Christians and Catholics from processions and so on. This film also contains religious elements such as Bible verses so that those who are non-crystiani must guess the instructions behind these elements.

He looks like a hero in this film. He has drastic emotional changes as a nurse especially when he encounters a number of conflicts. Good performance was also presented by supporting actors such as Badminton Morte, Dora Romano, Benedetta Porcaroli, Giorgio Colangeli, Simona Tabasco, Giulia Heathfield Di Renzi and Giampioro Judica.

The tension and mystery also came from his character which made the audience look out. One of them is when Cecilia feels that someone is watching her from the end of the room.

Towards the climax, Immaculate turned brutal. Various acts of fighting colored by bloodshed made this film look even more extra. Cecilia, who is considered the only one who is 'aware', struggles to save himself.
