JAKARTA - The postponement of several new films has disturbed the Universal production house. After delaying Fast and Furious 9, it looks like they don't want to do it again for another film. Today, Tuesday, March 17, Universal decided that the Trolls World Tour, The Hunt, and The Invisible Man will be available on streaming services according to the official release date or so-called available on demand.

Trolls World Tour, the animated sequel to Trolls, will premiere on April 10. This sequel tells the adventures of Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Branch (Justin Timberlake) who find six parks with six different types of music. Poppy and Branch join forces to unite the trolls in music. Apart from animated films, films currently showing in theaters - The Hunt, The Invisible Man, and Emma will also be released via streaming services on March 20.

The four films will be available for 48 hours at a price of 19.99 United States (US) and will be available overseas. They cannot hold back long enough delays and limit the provision of the film on the streaming screen until the conditions caused by the COVID-19 outbreak or the corona virus improve.

This step is unique, considering that several other production houses have chosen to postpone the screening of their films, namely A Quiet Place 2 (Paramount), No Time To Die (MGM), and Mulan (Disney).

The news of moving feature films to streaming also accompanies the news that the total box office has recently reached its lowest point in 20 years. As a result, production houses have to rethink about releasing films in theaters for profit or loss. This is because the public is afraid of public interactions due to the corona virus.

Following Universal, DC Comics' Birds of Prey and The Gentlemen will be available starting March 24 on Fandango. Birds of Prey director Cathy Yan asked for the film to be released to streaming services earlier despite the failure to succeed at the box office.

Likewise with Disney Plus which will release Frozen 2 after being inspired by the impact of the corona virus which closed schools in many countries. Apart from their futile box office achievements, they hope that these films can also complement viewing when people are at home.
