JAKARTA - All the hype about Parasite is still being felt today. After winning four trophies at the Oscars, Bong Joon Ho, who won the title of Best Director, felt exhausted by the various award shows he attended.

After Parasite, Bong prepared two new films including the Parasite adaptation series on HBO. However, through an open conversation with director Kelly Reichardt which was published by The Atlantic, he found it difficult to work on because of the impact of the Oscars and the process of writing a new script.

At the press backstage, Bong had revealed that he had to keep working despite getting awards at Cannes and Oscar. "I have to work, this is his job. So, I worked for 20 years, and what happened to Cannes and Oscar, "he said.

“I tried going back (working on the film) but I felt mentally and physically exhausted. I feel empty, "he continued.

In an interview with Variety, Bong said that his latest project is not as big as his previous films, including Parasite. The first film is still set in Seoul and will have a horror and action style, while the British film will tell a history based on real events in 2016. The project is split between the United States and the United Kingdom.

Bong is considered to always focus on what he does because his works take a long time to produce. "I've always been jealous of directors who can do projects alongside TV shows," he said as quoted by Indiewire.

Bong often involves his old friends in working on projects, including for his two latest films. He will be reunited with Darius Khondji, the person he worked with for Okja. Khondji recently worked on cinematography for the film Uncut Gems.

There isn't much that Bong can tell about his two latest films. However, for the Parasite series, the involvement of Tilda Swinton and Mark Ruffalo is reportedly being explored. Meanwhile, Parasite will be entering Hulu exclusively from April 8th.
