Carpenter also hopes that this song will not be an opportunity for people to send hate messages to anyone.

Currently the Skin song is in the iTunes song ranking and debuts on Spotify with 872 thousand total streams.

Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett met on the set of High School Musical and fans suspected the two were in a relationship. Although never confirmed, Bassett released the song Anyone Else.

Then, Rodrigo released the Drivers License after releasing the teaser in 2020. The lyrics of the brunette were changed to blonde and netizens thought the song was hinting at Carpenter because of his hair color.

After that, Bassett and Carpenter reportedly had a romantic relationship after the two of them joined the Black Lives Matter campaign in Los Angeles.
