4 Years In Prison, This Is What Zul Zivilia Feels

JAKARTA - It has been 4 years since Zulkifli, who is familiarly called Zul, the vocalist of the band Zivilia, has been behind bars for drug abuse cases. Zul Zivilia admitted that the times he spent in detention had changed himself.

Unlike he used to be, he felt a lot of learning to be a better person. "There are so many of them. The change I know more about myself, getting better, always trying. I can respect people more, respect my family, respect my wife, different from before, I received a warning and like that," said Zul Zivilia to the media crew at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Office on Wednesday, April 5.

Based on the story, the conditions in detention did make him have more self-introspection. For him, it was an opportunity to become a better person.

"Conditions and indeed in prison are our place to really be given the opportunity to pray and worship and so that we regret our previous actions," he said.

Zul admitted that he had never left the five-time prayer while in detention. On many occasions, he also tried to spend time deepening religious knowledge.

"Now, fasting, five-time prayers never stay, fill activities with religion, such as the Al-Qur'an muhasabah in Sukabumi," he said.

Not only deepening religion, Zul also carried out several other productive activities, such as when he participated in the development of prison residents in the field of music.

"Then, there are other things too, the guidance given by the Head of Prison, to inmates, such as music, there are crafts. Yes, they are all given to provide them when they return to society," concluded Zul Zivilia.
