8 WJSN Member Extend Contract With Starship Entertainment

JAKARTA - Starship Entertainment announced the contract status of the K-pop group WJSN. Friday, March 3, they stated that eight WJSN members renewed their contracts while the rest chose to leave the agency.

"First, we thank UJUNG (WJSN fans) domestically and internationally who provide support and love for WJSN," said Starship Entertainment in a statement.

Starship Entertainment recently renewed contracts with eight members of Exy, Seola, Bona, Soobin, Eunseo, Yeoreum, Dayoung, and Yeonjung from WJSN," he continued.

While the other two, Luda and Dawon chose not to continue the contract. Likewise, three members from China, namely Xuan Yi, Cheng Xiao, and Mei Qi, have also ended.

We discussed in-depth with Luda and Dawon, but unfortunately our exclusive contract ended. We are grateful for the dedication and effort they have shown to date," they continued.

We respect the decision of Luda and Dawon and will support their activities. Meanwhile, Xuan Yi, Cheng Xiao, and Mei Qi of Yuehua Entertainment who joined the WJSN for promotions automatically ended," he said.

Starship seeks to fully support all of their members and activities both music and non-music.

"Please give support to WJSN members who are starting a new line. Thank you," concluded the agency.

WJSN debuted as a group of 12 members in February 2016 and then they added Yeonjung a year later. At that time, Yeonjung was declared to have graduated from the project group IOI and began promoting with WJSN.

Then in 2018, Mei Qi and Xuan Yi followed the Chinese version of Produce 101. Mei Qi won first place followed by Xuan Yi in the second place. This made them join the project group Rocket Girls 101.

Both began to miss WJSN promotions, as did Cheng Xiao, who debuted as an actress in China. The three of them are still active careers in China as a singer and actress.

WJSN last released the album Sequence in July 2022. Currently, the members are busy with solo activities.
