JAKARTA - A number of Indonesian students held cultural festivals in Taipei, Taiwan, by presenting various art attractions and typical Indonesian foods to visitors.

The activity, which was held for the first time during the COVID pandemic, raised the theme "Underful Indonesia", said Chief Indonesian Student Association Taipei Medical University (PPI TMU) Kamaluddin Latief in a statement quoted by Antara, Sunday, January 8.

The cultural arts performance began with the collaboration of TMU students from Bali with the Gamelan team Gita Lestari National Taiwan University (NTU), which was followed by a keroncong "Bengawan Solo" trial by TMU students.

After that, the traditional West Java song "Cing Cangkeling" was performed, the angklung game for the song "Manuk Dadali" and the Taiwanese song "Tong Hua" as well as the Javanese song "Ojo Lamis".

The Saman dance was also performed at the event.

The event was closed with a flashmob by all supporters of the event wearing traditional Nusantara and batik clothes accompanied by Indonesian songs.

Rice rendang, meatballs, chicken noodles, lontong satay, pempek, fried foods, klepon, lupis, and getas are treats for the visitors.

Head of the Indonesian Citizen Protection and Social and Cultural Information Division of the Indonesian Trade and Economic Office (KDEI) Taipei Novrizal and Deputy Chancellor of TMU Prof Chieh-Hsi Wu were also present at the event.

"Cooperation and friendship are our keywords in this event," said Novrizal.

TMU expressed its support for the event held by the student from Indonesia.

"Indonesia is a very interesting country. We have very strong interactions. The relationship is also strong between international students and local students. Very happy to have cultural diversity in this TMU," said Wu.
