JAKARTA - A number of singers such as Bono from U2, Pharrell Williams, and Halsey are confirmed to be voicing the animated film Sing 2.

Produced by Illumination Entertainment, the selection of musicians across genres is made so that they can present many types of music in the sequel to this film.

In addition to the three musicians, Letitia Wright, Eric Andre, Chelsea Peretti, and Bobby Cannavale joined the Sing 2 cast. Players in the first section such as Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johanson, Taron Egerton, and Nick Kroll will also return.

Bono will be making his voice debut in the role of a lion and rock star named Clay Calloway who has shut himself off from the world after his wife left. In addition, Pharrell Williams will play Alfonso, an elephant and ice cream truck driver.

Halsey played Porsche, the young wolf and son of Jimmy Crystal played by Cannavale.

Sing 2 tells of a group of animals who participate in a singing competition organized by Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey).

"The film (Sing) is a musical celebration about achieving a dream, how big a challenge lies ahead," said the CEO of production house Ilumination Entertainment, Chris Meledandri quoted by NME on today, December 23.

Illumination Entertainment is the production house behind the Despicable Me and The Secret Life of Pets film franchises. A teaser poster was released on Tuesday, December 22nd with the slogan "Where Will Your Dream Take You?"

The plan is for the sequel to Sing to be shown in theaters starting December 2021.
