JAKARTA - A new documentary film about System Of A Down vocalist Serj Tankian, Truth To Power, will be released on February 19, 2021 through Oscilloscope Laboratories.

Launching Rolling Stone, Thursday, December 17, this film by Garin Hovannisian captures historical moments that include Serj's role in inspiring the massive peaceful protest of Velvet Revolution (2018) in his native Armenia, which succeeded in overthrowing the oligarchic regime.

Truth To Power also featured members of the band System Of A Down; John Dolmayan and Shavo Odadjian, band manager David "Beno" Benveniste, filmmaker / journalist Carla Garapedian, Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine), and famous record producer Rick Rubin.

The documentary was executive produced by Academy Award nominee Joe Berlinger (Paradise Lost trilogy, Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster); and Ryan Kroft of Live Nation Productions (Emmy winner for The T Word), Michael Rapino (A Star Is Born, Emmy nominee for Believer), Damian Vaca and Vaughn Schoonmaker.

Armed with exclusive interviews, adventures, and original footage filmed privately by Serj, Truth To Power enables backstage audiences to get to know more about the international rock star whose belief in music revolutionizes not only heavy metal, but the world.

Throughout his life, this musician has championed social justice, harnessing the power of song and celebrity for real political change.

Serj's voice challenges American corporate greed as the scorn of his homeland's corrupt regime. His decades-long campaign for formal US recognition of the Armenian Genocide was finally approved by Congress last year. The government hates it. People love him.

Embellished with System Of A Down's iconic music and an original soundtrack by Serj, Truth To Power is also a portrait of an artist with a look that reveals to musicians as he writes songs from idea to reality and pursues ambitions outside the band.

The 79-minute documentary includes Rubin's memories of System Of A Down's early years and their unexpected breakthroughs, bandmates' honest insights into the group's key bits and points, and Morello's story about his bond with Serj. as proponents of social justice and their nonprofit Axis Of Justice.
