Hook Entertainment Responds To His CEO Who Borrows Money From Lee Seung Gi

JAKARTA - One of South Korea's entertainment agencies, Hook Entertainment responded to a report related to Lee Seung Gi who is rumored to have lent billions of won to his CEO over the past eight years.

South Korean media, 10Asia on Saturday, November 26, reported that between 2014 and 2021, Lee Seung Gi had loaned CEOof Hook Entertainment, Kwon Jin Young, 4.725 billion won or 55.5 billion rupiah.

In addition, 10Asia also reported that during that period, Kwon Jin Young had purchased an apartment unit with a value of 3.4 billion won (about 39.95 billion rupiah) which was in a luxury apartment complex on Hannam the Hill, and paid for the apartment unit in cash.

Speculation arose, which said Kwon Jin Young may have used the loan money from Lee Seung Gi to buy an apartment for himself.

Currently, the apartment is known to have been worth more than 7 billion won ($ 5.2 million).

The day after the news emerged by 10Asia, Hook Entertainment also issued a response to the news.

Not only the agency, but CEO Kwon Jin Young also gave a response on the same day. "(The purchase of an apartment) has nothing to do with Lee Seung Gi," he said.

For information, in early November 2022, a report made by Lee Seung Gi was revealed.

He sent a content certification to Hook Entertainment to request transparent disclosure of payments against him.

Then, one of South Korean media, Dispatch published a report stating that Lee Seung Gi had never received a payment for the playback of his songs on a digital platform from the agency.

Through his legal representative, Lee Seung Gi is also rumored to have been insulted and threatened when he asked for profit sharing.

For the Dispatch news, Hook Entertainment issued a rebuttal and claimed that they had checked all the financial details in question with Lee Seung Gi, and had paid off all of his debts during the exclusive contract renewal in 2021.

Most recently, there was a search and confiscation at Hook Entertainment's office by the National Police's Heavy Crime Investigation Division.
