Yenny Wahid EMPHASIZED That Domestic Violence Victims Need To Conduct Conseling And Assistance

JAKARTA - Chairman of the NU Women Organizing Committee (OC), Zannuba Ariffah Chafsoh or Yenny Wahid, said that victims of domestic violence (KDRT) need assistance.

"The victim of domestic violence needs to get counseling on assistance, but the condition is that he himself wants to be accompanied, especially his family must be able to direct the victim to be accompanied," said Yenny in Jakarta, Sunday, October 16.

If no counseling is done, Yenny is worried that the domestic violence loop will continue to repeat itself. NU Women, he said, in collaboration with the Ministry of PPPA will organize mentoring programs in a number of Islamic boarding schools.

"We will train, especially kiai's wives in Islamic boarding schools, Islamic boarding schools activists so that they can provide assistance to domestic violence victims. So, the circle of domestic violence in the family does not continue to rotate. Otherwise, this vicious circle that continues to rotate will not be completed and will continue to occur domestic violence," he said.

Yenny admitted that she was not surprised by the decision of singer Lesti Kejora who returned to the arms of her husband Rizky Billar even though she had received acts of violence.

According to him, nearly 50 percent of domestic violence victims will return to their partners. There are many factors that make this happen, ranging from financial dependence, emotional dependence, fear that they have to start their own new life, and others.

Thus, the victim prefers to tolerate the harsh treatment he gets, the violence he gets rather than taking risks to live alone, especially if he has children. Well, there must be this feeling that my father is my son, the most important thing is that the victim of domestic violence must be given assistance earlier. Provide space for them to be able to think clearly and be guided so they don't be afraid to face risks in the future," he explained.

Yenny emphasized that violence cannot be tolerated, let alone violence experienced by yourself. So, you must have the courage to break the chain of violence, and it must start from yourself.

"Rest assured that whoever the victim is will receive support from the people around him. If necessary, I personally, anyone who gets domestic violence, please consult. Don't be afraid, don't hesitate, because no one has the right to be treated harshly and treated by force. We must learn to love ourselves first, "he added.

Yenny appealed to women not to be trapped in the domestic violence circle, because their children will learn the pattern of violence that exists in their lives. Of course, this is not educational and will interfere with the growth of children in the future.

"So, mothers who are victims of domestic violence, think about quality for their children, don't want to be in an environment with domestic violence," said Yenny.
