Polyamory is a romantic relationship carried out by more than one person at the same time. At first glance, the meaning sounds similar to having an affair but is in fact different principles.

Polyamory is done on the basis of feeling like one another so that people in this relationship know the purpose of what they are doing.

The difference with polygamy?

Not a few people equate polyamory and polygamy, but in fact they are different. Polygamy is done when a man marries more than one woman, while polyamory is related to romantic relationships.

Shai Fisherman, a 46-year-old man, went viral because he lives a polyamorous lifestyle with two women at once, Lea and Krissy. He is also known to still live in the same house as his ex-wife, Danielle.

According to Shai Fisherman, polyamory relationships allow a person to learn to focus on a partner and give him the opportunity to develop emotionally, erotic, professional and spiritual.

Why is polyamory so popular?

According to YouGov, the United States is one of the countries with the greatest growth of polyamory relationships. As many as 23 percent said their current relationship was non-monogamous.

Interestingly, a survey conducted earlier this year also found that many millennial generations want polyamory relationships. Even if there are people who are not living non-monogamy, many of them have relationships with other people.

Some practice polyamory for the sake of drama, work, or sexual ability. But there are also those who want to do it because they cannot fulfill their sexual desire when they meet their only partner.

In the end, the decision to undergo polyamory is discussable and does not always have to do with sex.
