JAKARTA - New York Indonesia Fashion Week (NYIFW) was successfully held on September 11 local time or September 12 Indonesian time. Produced by Vanny Toussignant, there are 7 Indonesian designers, 7 designers from Indonesia, 2 Indonesian Diaspora designers from the USA, and 1 Italian designer who joined the event.

The designers who joined were Zuebarqa by Benz (Bandung), Evoy Production (Bandung), Batik Siger (Lampung), Sulam Jeljur (Lampung), Gee Batik (Jogja), Sakamade Boutique (Jogja), Michelle Hadip (Jakarta's little designer), Merry Salmeni (New York, USA), Dewi Maya (South Carolina, USA), banyista Berhoni Zigrida (Italy).

This prestigious fashion event was held in the 48 Wall Street New York area, NY 10043. Times Square also witnessed the success of the event.

"Thankfully again, the New York Indonesia Fashion Week event can be continued. The selected designer is of course the one who already has experience so he knows how to manage the run way and back stage. Previously, we also selected the collection first, we don't want to bring clothes that are open," said Vanny when contacted Tuesday, September 7th.

For more than 30 years living in Indonesia, Vanny did not want to tarnish Indonesia's name while still highlighting eastern culture through fashion. "Because Indonesia's name in New York Indonesia Fashion Week is something we must protect," he explained.

This event was held together with New York Fashion Week so that the atmosphere of the excitement of the event felt thick. "Our goal is one, designers from Indonesia will be met with designers outside whose points are in New York," he said.

These Indonesian designers collaborate to present their best works in front of the world public. This year New York Indonesia Fashion Week has the theme of tourist destinations in Indonesia.

One of the Indonesian designers who attended the NYIFW 2022 event was Sugeng Waskito. Sugeng Waskito brought his collection from Geebatik by presenting the masterpiece of Borobudur Temple in every design.

"I featured 13 outfits with the theme Borobudur Temple. Why? Because Borobudur Temple is famous in Indonesia and one of the wonders in Indonesia," said Sugeng Waskito to InsertLive.

Furthermore, Sugeng Waskito explained the process of making batik with Borobudur Temple which he took to the NYIFW 2022 event.

"Because of batik, right, it's not easy, there is an old process of approximately 3 months of preparation. So if it's batik, it started with a pattern first, then the Borobudur Temple batik was made," he added.

Sugeng Waskito hopes that other Indonesian designers can appear in the international arena.

"I am very proud to appear in New York Indonesia Fashion Week 2022. My hope is that Indonesian designers can appear in the international arena," he concluded.
