Peacock Releases An Apology To Selena Gomez

JAKARTA - The words 'Respect Selena Gomez' filled social media lines today, November 29. It is known that Selena Gomez fans protested against the Saved by the Bell series which was broadcast through the Peacock streaming service.

The protest was made because there was one scene from episode six of the show where two Bayside high school kids speculate about Selena Gomez's kidney donor.

“I know for a fact that Selena Gomez's kidney donor is Justin Bieber's mother. I wish I had a phone so I can prove it, "said one.

"Prove what?" asked his friend. "You stupid? That's Demi Lovato's kidney. They are friends, like you and me. "

The offensive scene is followed by a graffiti written on the wall. Fans realized the post was, "Does Selena Gomez have a kidney?"

Fans began to protest Peacock. “To joke about someone's illness is not funny. Very cruel. Selena doesn't deserve it, neither do anyone else, ”wrote one Twitter user.

In 2017, Selena Gomez announced she had received a kidney transplant from friend and actor Francia Raisa. This is related to the lupus he is suffering from.

Citing Variety that same day, Peacock, NBCUniversal, and producers of Saved by the Bell apologized in their official statement.

"We are so sorry. It's not our intention to make Selena's health a joke. We have communicated with the team (Selena) and will make a donation to her charity body, The Selena Gomez Fund for Lupus Research at USC. "

On the other hand, Selena Gomez did not give an official statement. Saved by the Bell is a remake series of the original 1989 version that follows the lives of students at Bayside High School.
