JAKARTA - K-pop supergroups BTS and BLACKPINK have been nominated as the best group of the year at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.

Citing a report from the Korea Times on Saturday, the two K-pop bands will compete for Best Group Of The Year with other musicians including City Girls, Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons, Maneskin, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Silk Sonic.

Previously, BTS had won best group, one of three socially voted categories along with Song Of Summer and Album Of The Year, in the past three years.

BTS' Jungkook was also nominated for Song Of Summer for Left and Right, his collaboration single with US singer-songwriter Charlie Puth.

The group was previously announced as nominees for Best K-pop, Best Choreography, Best Visual Effects and Best Metaverse Performance.

On the other hand, BLACKPINK will also be performing at the awards ceremony scheduled for August 28 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
