Disney Teams Up With Jon M. Chu To Become The Director Of The Live Action Version Of Lilo & Stitch

JAKARTA - Disney will adapt the Lilo & Stitch cartoon into a live-action film. The name Jon M. Chu is reported to be the director of this film.

Disney has yet to announce an explanation regarding this adaptation process, either in terms of characters or releases through theaters or Disney Plus.

But Rideback's Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich will be the companies producing this adaptation. Previously they worked on a remake of the film Aladdin.

Jon M. Chu is the director who worked on Justin Bieber's films: Never Say Never, Now You See Me 2, and Crazy Rich Asians. Chu himself has not confirmed the news about this adaptation.

The original film directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders was released in 2002. The animated film Lilo & Stitch tells the story of a six-year-old boy named Lilo and his older brother, Nani who raise a creature named Stitch.

This film is one of the cultural products in which they popularize the word ohana which means family - and family means that nothing is left and forgotten.

This adaptation process is not the first for the Lilo & Stitch universe. They did several spin offs such as Stitch: The Movie, Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch and Leroy and Stitch as well as the Lilo & Stitch: The Series series.

Live action Lilo & Stitch is Disney's newest adaptation project after they remake The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Mulan, and Dumbo.

Disney is in the process of adapting The Little Mermaid. Jon M. Chu is also busy shooting the movie In The Heights.
