JAKARTA - Korea became the first country to adapt the La Casa de Papel series, also known as Money Heist. With the title Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area, they present something new from the Netflix production story.

Of course, this is a consideration for the players, including Yoo Ji Tae and Kim Yoon Jin. They feel pressure to remember La Casa de Papel's worldwide success.

“This is a series with a huge fan mass and now Korean content is loved by many people around the world. I think our charisma will shine here," said Yoo Ji Tae at a Netflix press conference today, Wednesday, June 22.

"The original series was very popular so I wasn't sure if I could (play it) and I felt a lot of pressure," said Kim Yoon Jin.

“Korea is a divided country. And we thought about how to make something as beautiful as the original story," Yoon Jin continued.

Director Kim Hong Seon and writers Ryu Yong Jae and Kim Hwan Chae also felt worried. They also mention important points that make the Money Heist franchise so interesting.

“When I watched the first and second seasons of the original, I was intrigued by the remake. Then we showed our plan to the original creator to be able to make it in a Korean concept," said Ryu Yong Jae.

“I watched (La Casa de Papel) for the first time in 2018 and there were so many characters. But most importantly, the characters themselves make up the story," said Kim Hong Seon.

As a result they make a different premise from the original. Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area tells of a new layer of relations between North and South Korea.

“That element gives charisma and dynamism throughout the two countries. That layer will be the core of the story with more tension,” he said confidently.

Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area tells the story of the process of the unification of South Korea and North Korea. In the midst of that process, the group led by the Professor plans a major heist for the unreleased currency.

Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area starring Yoo Ji Tae, Park Hae Soo, Jun Jeong Seo, Lee Won Jong, Kim Ji Hun, Jang Yoon Ju, Lee Hyun Woo, Kim Ji Joon, and Lee Kyu Ho. The first 12 episodes will premiere on July 24, 2022 on Netflix.
