JAKARTA - The Indonesian version of My Sassy Girl is adapted from a successful Korean film in 2001. Directed by Fajar Bustomi with a duet with writer Titien Watimena, it's hard not to compare with the original version.

The story is not much different, only adapted to the current situation in Indonesia. Gian (Jefri Nichol) should go to his aunt's house because the aunt wants to set Gian up with his late son's ex-lover.

However, from the station to the train carriage, Gian is stuck in a situation where he has to take care of a drunk girl named Sisi (Tiara Andini) and has to take her to a hotel.

There was a misunderstanding between Gian and Sisi which brought them into meeting after meeting, forming a togetherness where Gian found himself unable and unwilling to be separated from Sisi even though Sisi often bullied him. The side that has a gloomy side due to his past also finds happiness every time he is with Gian.

Unfortunately, Sisi always feels that he doesn't deserve to be happy while Gian always tries to obey Sisi's wishes, no matter how strange Sisi's requests are, in order to bring Sisi free from the sadness that Gian often finds in Sisi's silly behavior.

Fajar Bustomi photographed various means of transportation in Jakarta, KRL, MRT, and places of hype among young people beautifully incorporated to give a popular color. Several train and MRT stations are seen to be integrated with the train road. Not to mention TMII which is actually old school but looks beautiful and looks proud when it appears in the cinema.

In addition, the courage to show young Jakartans hanging out with beer and cafes deserves appreciation. This film portrays a lifestyle that has been avoided being shown in Indonesian cinema for reasons of decency.

Unfortunately, My Sassy Girl lacks a bite. Miss casting who did not provide strong chemistry between Jefri Nichol and Tiara Andini. Jefri has tried to show all his innocence, even from walking in high heels to make the audience believe.

Unfortunately, Tiara as Sissy is not optimal, there is still a sense of reluctance to act 'insolent' to Jefri. Whereas in the original version, the silliness of the main character became the mainstay of the plot.

Moreover, Jefri's friend's toga also seems to be just a complement. It only appears when Jefri is in trouble, how the activities of this male gang are not explored more deeply.

However, it must be admitted that the editing from images to sound and additional songs makes the My Sassy Girl movie enjoyable to watch until the end.
