BTS Will Focus On Members' Solo Careers

JAKARTA - BTS has shocked fans after announcing their group will be temporarily halting activities in the near future. This news was revealed by the members during the FESTA broadcast on Tuesday, June 14.

"Until (the release of) ON and Dynamite, I always felt BTS was in my hands but after we released Butter and Permission to Dance, I don't know what our group is like," said RM.

For almost the past 10 years, they have focused on the group but not on the individual. The members also admitted that it was difficult to write lyrics due to their busy schedules.

“The most difficult thing is writing the lyrics. I can't think of anything to write about. I have to write what I feel and want but I feel like I'm forcing it out… and that's difficult,” added Suga.

“J-Hope once told me. We can focus on solo activities for a while and when we come back, the synergy will be even better. J-Hope often talks about this," said V.

“I often talk about this to the other members but I think we should spend some time apart to learn how to be together again. Timing is very important, so I hope you don't see it in a negative light," said J-Hope.

"We're not disbanding," added Suga.

The next day, BTS's agency HYBE confirmed the news that the members shared. They explained that the members will focus on solo projects starting with J-Hope.

“BTS will be starting a new chapter where they will be doing group and individual activities simultaneously. This time the members will grow with their activities. The label will support this," said the HYBE party today, Wednesday, June 15.

J-Hope will be the first member of BTS to carry out solo activities. He is confirmed to be the headliner at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago in July.

The BTS group also performed the song Yet To Come (The Most Beautiful Moment) on a number of South Korean music shows starting next week.
