JAKARTA - Aespa is included in the list of Next Generation Leaders 2022 version of TIME. This annual list presents a row of names that are predicted to achieve success in the future.

Apart from aespa, several names such as Olga Rudenko, Jonathan Bailey, Bilal Baig, Jaz Brisack, and Deepica Mutyala.

Aespa made this list because of their performance at Coachella last April. This appearance was the first time that SM Entertainment's youngest group appeared in front of an audience.

In addition, the concept of aespa with AI avatar also stole the attention of the music world. With this different concept, the group consisting of Winter, Karina, Ningning, and Giselle admitted to being worried.

“To be honest, we were worried at first because our concept was something new for the agency,” Ningning told TIME.

“But apparently our fans enjoyed it and they even made a meme out of it. So we're excited to see a response to this concept."

Not only the concept, aespa also presents the metaverse side through their songs. Karina also believes that this is a special characteristic for Aespa.

“From the debut of Black Mamba to Savage, and our next release, we connected the world of the Metaverse. I think it helps in expressing aespa music in a unique way,” Karina said.

“We thank the seniors for breaking boundaries. And we want to generalize the concept of the metaverse and our fans are comfortable with that concept," said Giselle.

Debuted in 2020 and had several successes, one of which was the mini album Savage which debuted on the Billboard 200. On the other hand, aespa will be participating in the SM Town concert in Japan for the first time this year.
