Mieke Widjaja was born in Bandung on March 17, 1940. He started his career in the national film industry in 1955, by starring in the film Failed. After that Mieke continued to advance in film in Indonesia, both through the silver and glass screens.

Some of Mieke's famous films are the White Veil Girl (1967), The Hot Earth (1973), Ali Topan Street Children (1977), Storm Definitely Passed (1977), and Flower Seasons (1980).

In her role in the film Girl of the White Veil and Flower of Seasons, Mieke won the Citra Cup as best actress.
