JAKARTA - In honor of Bisexual Day, François Arnaud, 35, shared his honesty on social media. The Schitt's Creek star claims to be bisexual.

He explained in a lengthy post on his Instagram Story that he has long chosen to remain silent about the issue out of "fear of sharing" and "because 'masculinity' is the most fragile currency."

"Last week, I chatted with co-workers, and when I discussed the trip I took with my ex-boyfriend, I asked myself - for ten thousand times - how to tell a story like that without making it seem like it was my whole story," wrote Arnaud reported by People, Wednesday.

He said this is the suffering that many bisexual men experience.

"I'm sure a lot of bisexual men feel the same way and end up doing what I feel: leaving other people's assumptions about straightness uncorrected," Arnaud said. "Maybe out of fear of sharing too much. Under the guise of privacy, perhaps. Maybe because 'masculinity' is the most fragile currency, ready to just dive into the first sign of vulnerability or divergence."

Arnaud said he believed himself to be silent "because it is really scary to give up your privileges."

"Without a doubt because of the stigma of indecisiveness, infidelity, deceit and trends still attached to bisexuality," he wrote.

"But this is the problem," continued Arnaud. "Silence has the ill effect of perpetuating those stereotypes, making bisexual people invisible, and making people doubt that we even exist. No wonder admitting bisexuality without lengthy explanations is still a chore."

Arnaud ended his message, writing: "So yes, frustrating labels and words, imperfect."

"I've always considered myself bisexual," he insisted, adding that he was not "confused or trying to appear tense."

He added: "Disloyal. Not ashamed. Out of sight."

Arnaud is known for his role as Cesare Borgia in the series The Borgias 2011-2013. He also played Sebastien Raine in the 2017 episode of Schitt's Creek, which went win after victory at the 2020 Emmy Awards on Sunday. He also starred in Manfred Bernardo in Midnight, Texas.
