The owner of The Crobar, Richard Thomas, called the insurance company greedy and the landlord petty. They are accused of being the culprit for the bankruptcy of The Crobar so that it will not be opened again.

Foo Fighters vocalist Dave Grohl was a regular at the bar for many years. He often drank there with Jack Black, Pink, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and actress Juliette Lewis after Led Zeppelin's historic O2 Arena show in 2007.

Thomas posted the news of his bar closure on The Crobar social media accounts on September 20. His statement reads:

On the bright side, Thomas's 7-year-old daughter motivated Thomas to open a new Crobar. Even though it requires a lot of funds and around a year to build, he will not give up.
