JAKARTA - Vernon, a member of the K-pop idol group SEVENTEEN, has been confirmed positive for COVID-19. Vernon is experiencing typical symptoms of the disease, entertainment management company Pledis Entertainment said.

As quoted from Billboard, he tested positive using a self-test kit then confirmed the results through a PCR test on Friday, February 25 morning.

In an official statement, Pledis said Vernon only had a sore throat and was self-treating at home.

"As for the other SEVENTEEN members, it seems that there are no more symptoms of COVID-19, even though Vernon was in contact with four other group members," Pledis said as quoted by ANTARA.

Vernon is known to be in contact with DK and Dino on Tuesday, February 22, then with S.Coups and Woozi the next day. But they only met briefly while each wearing a mask and keeping their distance.

"DK, Dino, S.Coups and Woozi did a self-test and antigen test and all showed negative results and did not show any symptoms," the agency said.

News of Vernon testing positive for COVID-19 comes to coincide with the release of his collaborative project with Charli XCX for the remix of the pop star's latest single, "Beg for You" featuring Rina Sawayama.

The song features a K-pop idol thinking hard about the future with his girlfriend. “All the endless conversations about us been going on in our head/ In the night, we dream a future together and I feel bad in your bed/ I beg for you, please stay, I can't go a day without/ No, I can't go a day without you," Vernon sings in the song.
