JAKARTA - The latest Korean drama from Netflix, All of Us Are Dead will be released soon on Friday, January 28. A zombie-themed series with a high school background is here to add to the excitement at the beginning of the year.

All of Us Are Dead is an adaptation of the webtoon by Chun Sung Il. Its popular and successful webtoon makes players very interested in joining this production.

Yoon Chan Young and Lee Yoo Mi have read the webtoon together. They were even more interested when the series was directed by Lee JQ. "Actually, I've read the webtoon, about the character I'm playing, and I'm always curious. So it's an honor because I'm very happy," said Lee Yoo Mi.

Zombie Variation

There are many series and films about zombies produced by South Korea, but All of Us Are Dead is said to have a variety of zombies with many times the power.

“You will see all kinds of zombies. Some are bitten in the face, some are on the arms or knees, thus creating many types. I want you to see it," said Yoon Chan Young.

The Only High School Boy

The story of All of Us Are Dead is set in high school in Hyosan city, but there is only one actress who is actually still in school, namely Park Ji Hu. The busyness of school and filming made the actress have to change back and forth in school uniforms.

“At that time I was the same age as On-jo (Park Ji Hu's role name). Now, I'm 20 years old but at that time I was still a junior in high school," said Park Ji Hu. In fact, Park Ji Hu called the people around him uncle and aunt.

Friends in Real World

The character Yoon Gwi Nam (Yoo In Soo) is told to hate Lee Cheong San (Yoon Chan Young) for one thing. They also chase each other and want revenge. It turns out that in real life, the two are best friends.

“Actually, Chan Young and I are close friends,” said Yoo In Soo.

“We like oldies songs. We sing a lot of Lee Moon Sae's songs and In Soo often recommends good songs for me," explained Yoon Chan Young.

Lim Jae Hyeok Composes Special Song

Yang Dae Soo (Lim Jae Hyeok) is told as a character who wants to become a singer. Jae Hyeok said there was one scene where he would appear singing. Director Lee JQ challenged Lim Jae Hyeok to compose a song.

“I'm focused - trying to think about what these kids want to hear. So I thought, “Let's go home” was appropriate. So I started from there,” said Lim Jae Hyeok.

Special Scene

Lee JQ explained that there is one long take scene that must be watched by the audience, namely the scene in the cafeteria. He said there are 200 actors in one place so the scene will feel intense.

“For the cafeteria and library scene, we will do test shooting for the actors and rehearsal. I wanted a reality in the scene so people would feel immersed in the story," said Lee JQ.

All of Us Are Dead tells the story of a group of students at a school who are facing a zombie outbreak and are waiting for help. The series will premiere on Netflix starting January 28 at 3 p.m. KST.
