JAKARTA - South Korean entertainment company SM Entertainment announced the formation of the new K-Pop group Girls on Top or GOT. In the first photo upload on GOT's official Twitter account, it shows that all personnel are from music groups under the auspices of SM Entertainment.

The teaser photo was also uploaded on SM Entertainment's official social media account on Sunday, December 27. Girls on Top personnel include BoA, Taeyeon and Hyoyeon from Girls Generation, Red Velvet's Seulgi and Wendy, and Karina and Winter from aespa.

The group announced that it would hold a special show on January 1, 2022 and release its first song on January 3 at 6 p.m. South Korean time or around 4 p.m. Indonesian Time.

Previously in 2019, SM Entertainment had formed a boy group with a similar style, all of which came from the four groups under the agency.

Quoted from ANTARA, the boy group is called SuperM, consisting of Taemin from Shinee, Baekhyun and Kai from EXO, Taeyong, and Mark from NCT 127, and Ten and Lucas from WayV.

The group's debut can be said to be a success, as can be seen from its first mini album which sold around 168.000 copies in the United States in just a week since its debut.

The mini album titled "SuperM" was released on October 4, 2019. Besides being successful in terms of sales, this album also managed to rank first on the Billboard 200.

The day after the release of the mini album, SuperM immediately held its debut concert at the Capitol Records Building, Los Angeles, USA. SuperM's journey continued until in 2020 they released their first studio album, entitled "Super One".
