Dozens Of Asian Films Ready To Screen The Japan Foundation January 22

JAKARTA - The Japan Foundation will hold two film festivals with different focuses, namely CROSSCUT ASIA Delicious! namely the Online Film Festival which focuses on culinary arts and films in Asia, especially Southeast Asia, and the 2022 Japanese Film Festival ONLINE which screens a series of Japanese films from various genres.

Quoted from Antara, Sunday, December 26, in collaboration with the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), “CROSSCUT ASIA Delicious! Online Film Festival” will be held from January 21 to February 3, 2022.

CROSSCUT ASIA is a program released as one of TIFF's official selections that focuses on showing various films, directors, or themes from Asia from 2014-2019.

At this festival, CROSSCUT ASIA screened a special edition consisting of seven culinary-themed films from Japan and Southeast Asia, as well as Encore! CROSSCUT ASIA which contains six selected films from the previous edition.

A total of two films from Indonesia were also screened in this festival, namely, Aruna and Lidahnya by Edwin, and This is the Story of Tiga Dara by Nia Dinata.

In addition, works from other well-known Southeast Asian directors were also present at this festival, including Wanton Mee from director Eric Khoo (Singapore), and Pete Teo Special, which screened a series of music videos and short films from 15 Malaysian directors.

These films can be watched for free during the festival and come with Japanese and English subtitles. Some films also provide subtitles in the local language.

Registration time to participate in the festival starts January 18, 2021 at 10:00 WIB here free of charge.

After that, the 2022 Japanese Film Festival (JFF) will be held online on 14-27 February 2022.

Besides Indonesia, participating countries include Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, India, Korea, Nepal, Bangladesh, United States, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Peru, Spain, Italy, Egypt, Hungary, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, and others.

JFF is committed to presenting Japanese films from various genres such as animation, drama, comedy, mystery, documentaries, to classics, as well as providing a platform for exchanging cultural knowledge through film-themed discussions and issues presented in films.

In total there are 20 films accompanied by 15 foreign language subtitles including Indonesian which are ready to be screened at this event.
