Jazz Musicians Describe Idang's Figure: Amazing Thinker, Cheap Knowledge, And Wise

JAKARTA - Senior jazz musician, Idang Rasjidi passed away on Saturday, December 4 night at Azra Hospital, Bogor. Idang also left various memories for everyone, including Indra Lesmana as a musician who had worked with him.

Idang is known as a brother and father figure for jazz musicians because he always shares knowledge with anyone regardless of age. When Idang left, the memories were retold by Indra Lesmana, Syaharani, Andien to Rieka Roeslan.

For Indra, Idang is a big brother figure. Idang's thoughts on music always amazed him.

"Farewell my brother in jazz, mas Idang Rasjidi. We have all lost your music, your jokes, your thoughts, your figure. I hope that Mas Idang can now rest in peace. #idagrasjdi," Indra was quoted as saying on Sunday, December 5.

The same thing was also conveyed by Syaharani. For him, Idang was never stingy with knowledge, especially to his juniors.

"Light, cool, have an easy trip to Heaven. Don't forget, thank you for all the knowledge that has been shared with us as juniors. Goodbye, mas Idang Rasjidi, the typical! We will not forget. Have a great Jam in Heaven!!!," said Syaharani.

Meanwhile, Andien shared that Idang Rasjidi was a role model for many people, including himself. Idang is a wise, supportive person who always gives positive feedback. Andien also never forgets Idang's humorous nature.

"One of the best lessons I got from him is how we as musicians must learn to listen, because we are not alone on stage," said Andien.

"Oom Idang, it turns out that what Oom Idang told us all was more than just music lessons. But life lessons. Rest in peace, Oom. I am proud to have known a legend like Oom in my life," he continued.

Rieka Roeslan also has many memories with Idang Rasjidi. He said he always tried to communicate even though he rarely met face to face.

Rieka also revealed that Idang always gave her support to become a strong female musician.

"He is a great person, a great brother who always pushes me to be strong as a woman and as a musician," said Rieka.

"I will lose a good brother, without meeting we always call. Finally he said he wanted to make a film about his homeland. Dear brother, rest in peace, Allah always takes care of you, I always miss you," he continued.
