JAKARTA - The film "Akhirat: A Love Story", a fantasy romance story that tells the story of two human children, namely Timur (Adipati Dolken) and Mentari (Della Dartyan) who fall in love but are hindered by different beliefs, is ready to be broadcast on December 2, 2021.
As a fantasy romance film, "Akhirat: A Love Story" has a unique point of view in telling the relationship between humans, not only love but also family.
In the film, Timur and Mentari of different religions fall in love and promise to stay together. One day, an accident makes the two move to a new and different dimension.
There, they are given a second chance so that they can continue to be together without any hindrance. Will the afterlife unite them, or will they separate?
The film "Akhirat: A Love Story", which is the debut feature film of director and scriptwriter Jason Iskandar, brings a different genre from other films in Indonesia. Regarding this, Adipati Dolken shared the challenges he faced during filming.
"We have never faced this fantasy world before. So the discussion is quite long, how do we make it reasonable. That is the most difficult part," Adipati told reporters after the press conference for the film "Akhirat: A Love Story" in Jakarta, Friday, November 19.
"Fortunately Jason has a way to explain it to me, to Della, and the other cast. His fantasy turned out to be that wide and made me proud to be in this film," he continued.
In addition, Adipati also said that he had to adapt to the habits of the character he played, namely Timur.
"I'm actually Muslim, so in this film I'm Christian. So how do I adapt his habits because my character in the real world and in the fantasy world is different," he said.
The film production process, Adipati said, had been carried out since April 2020 but had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and only started again in September 2020.
"Since 2020 in April. Had read for a month, then it was pending because of the pandemic. Reading again from the beginning, shooting again in September (2020)," said Adipati.
Besides Della Dartyan, in the film made by BASE Entertainment with Studio Antelope, Adipati also co-stars with Windy Apsari, Agnes Naomi, Tubagus Ali, Ravil Prasetya, and Farhan Rasyid.
