JAKARTA - Marvel's Eternals film features the highest number of superhero characters in franchise history. There are 10 main characters that become important points in this film.

Behind the large number of superheroes, director Chloe Zhao revealed that Eternals actually has 12 main characters. Speaking to Fandom, Zhao explained that initially they had 12 characters but had to reduce the portion.

“There were 12 characters when I first read it; 12 Eternals. We had to leave two characters behind," Zhao said.

Despite having reduced two characters, Zhao is also challenged to manage the screen time of the other 10 characters and develop their stories.

"Some characters don't need the most screen time, but what do they do with that screen time?"

"They have to impress. And when we look at these 10 unique individuals, we think about how they represent 10 aspects of human nature," said the Nomadland director.

The 10 Eternals are Sersi (Gemma Chan), Ikaris (Richard Madden), Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani), Sprite (Lia McHugh), Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry), Makkari (Lauren Ridloff), Druig (Barry Keoghan), Gilgamesh (Don Lee), Invite (Salma Hayek), and Thena (Angelina Jolie).

He said, each character does not have a balanced screen time but in terms of characters, they are all equal. Marvel hasn't spoken about the two Eternals characters being omitted; will they return in the next film or will they be completely eliminated.

Eternals tells the story of a group of ancient alien races that have lived on earth for a long time. They were created by a being called a Celestial.
