Jason Iskandar Presents The Romance Of Adipati Dolken And Della Dartyan In Afterlife: A Love Story

JAKARTA - BASE Entertainment and Studio Antelope will release a fantasy romance film titled Akhirat: A Love Story. This film brings together Adipati Dolken with Della Dartyan in one screen after the film Love for Sale.

Afterlife: A Love Story tells of Timur (Adipati) and Mentari (Della Dartyan) who are in a relationship as lovers. They have many differences including social status and religion but that doesn't hinder them.

At one time, Timur and Mentari had an accident that separated them. Timur and Sun realize they are in different worlds. They start fighting for the chance to get back together.

The idea of a story like this seems to be rarely highlighted in cinema, especially when it combines the fantasy genre. According to Jason Iskandar as the director, he wants to bring a new color to Indonesian cinema.

“What if there was a chance for their love in a fantasy world, what decision would we make?' Throughout the process of developing the story, I asked this question to several friends who are in different faith relationships,” said Jason Iskandar.

In general, this film offers a love story that everyone can feel but he wants something new from his directorial debut.

“First, my friends have experienced this kind of love and I think it's worth telling through a film. Both challenge this new genre into films,” said Jason Iskandar.

Duke Dolken as the actor Timur also felt the concept of this story was fresh compared to romance films in general. “This is a unique story, a new one. The first fantasy romance, so the imagination as an actor should be wide," said Adipati.

On the other hand, Della Dartyan feels connected to the story. "When I was offered this film, I felt like it was really similar," he said with a laugh.

The love story of Timur and Mentari is immortalized in Akhirat: A Love Story, which will hit theaters on December 2, 2021.
