Health Office Reports Bandarlampung Has Not Received Reports of Superflu Cases

Bandarlampung City Health Office (Dinkes) said that his party has not received reports of cases of Superflu or influenza A (H3N2) Subclade K in this city.

"Until now, there have been no reports from the community or health facilities related to this case," said the Head of the Bandarlampung City Health Service, Muhtadi Arsyad Tumenggung in Bandarlampung, as reported by ANTARA.

He explained that the influenza A (H3N2) Subclade K disease is a seasonal disease that attacks the respiratory system, with this case usually caused by influenza viruses circulating globally and occurring throughout the year.

"Then the influenza A (H3N2) virus undergoes genetic shifts, known as the K subclade virus. This virus is certainly easy to spread between humans when they cough or sneeze," he said.

According to him, influenza can cause diseases ranging from mild to severe, sometimes resulting in hospitalization or death.

"However, most cases are mild and self-healing. However, for those who experience severe symptoms such as difficulty breathing, sepsis, acute respiratory distress syndrome, or multi-organ failure, they require immediate supportive care and often hospitalization," he said.

Therefore, Muhtadi also appealed to the public, especially the City of Bandarlampung, to be able to maintain environmental and respiratory cleanliness and to carry out annual vaccinations.

"How to prevent it with actions such as maintaining hand hygiene, respiratory hygiene. The etiquette of coughing in public places, then the use of masks for individuals with symptoms or have tested positive for influenza virus can reduce the transmission of influenza virus," he said.
