JAKARTA - In the midst of increasing prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as heart and cancer, the Pertamina Central Hospital (RSPP) together with NalaGenetics inaugurated the RSPP IHC Genomics Clinic. This step marks a new era of more personalized national health services, where medical treatment is no longer uniform (one size fits all), but is tailored to individual genetic profiles.

The clinic, located in the Graha RSPP Building, is a response to the challenge of early detection in Indonesia. National data show that breast cancer detection delays still reach 70%, while heart disease affects 1.5% of the population. Genomic integration is the key to mapping risk before clinical symptoms appear seriously.

Transformation of Diagnosis: From Symptoms to Prediction The uniqueness of this clinic lies in its full integration into the national referral hospital system. "Often patients come with one complaint, but through a genetic profile, they find other, greater risks, such as a hereditary heart disease tendency. Here, the assessment is carried out comprehensively and directed in one ecosystem," said Levana Sani, CEO of NalaGenetics.

Until now, only less than five national referral hospitals in Indonesia have clinically integrated genomic services. The presence of this clinic positions RSPP as a pioneer in adopting future health technologies in accordance with the Ministry of Health's transformation agenda.

Effectiveness of Therapy: Avoiding Trial and Error One of the tangible evidence of the benefits of genomics was presented by dr. Endah Ronawulan SpKJ, psychiatrist at RSPP. He told a patient who had difficulty finding the right psychiatric medicine. Through a pharmacogenomic examination, the medical team managed to determine the therapy that matched the patient's genetic profile, thereby minimizing side effects and accelerating recovery.

"We understand that the response to treatment and lifestyle is strongly influenced by genetic variations. This is an opportunity to improve the quality of clinical decision-making precisely," added Dr. Henny Veirawati, Director of RSPP.

Operations and Accessibility By the end of 2025, NalaGenetics has served more than 2,000 patients, the majority in the fields of cardiology, oncology, and metabolism. At RSPP, this service will be supported by doctors from seven specialty units who have been specially trained to interpret genomic data.

The results of this examination will be directly integrated with the hospital's medical records. To ensure accuracy and medical ethics, this service can be accessed through a referral mechanism and consultation with expert doctors in the RSPP environment, ensuring that each action is based on specific clinical needs.
